Hiding in Plain Sight
"Hiding in Plain Sight" is a series of photographs I have compiled together to achieve one goal: to showcase the deep inner physical and mental pain & trauma within the beautiful women I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Every picture is paired with a written passage containing details of their own personal struggle. A pain that they deal with every day. A pain that is deeper than what anyone outside can see or tell. Thus called, "Hiding in Plain Sight."
This project has a very deep importance to me simply because for the past year I've been struggling with a herniated disc in my spine. This pain has prevented me from doing things I usually love doing. It hurt to walk. It hurt to dance. It hurt to laugh. It hurt to simply exist. Along-side this, I have always throughout my life dealt with dyslexia. Together this made my life hell. However these issues are skin-deep. No one could ever tell looking at me. This series of photography is my release from this. I want people to see and feel relatable to me and all these beautiful women in these photos. I want the audience to stop and know that they are not alone.
